While this isn’t directly related to mobile, it’s still an amazing accomplishment. Yesterday afternoon, PSY’s Gangnam Style music video became the first video in the history of Youtube to crack the 1 billion views threshold. It’s the most viewed video in YouTube history, beating out the Justin Bieber song “Baby.” It took the Bieb’s video 2 years to reach the 750 million view mark, while Gangnam Style was able to hit a billion in just 5 months.
YouTube’s view count algorithm counts a view as each time someone plays the song, so this doesn’t necessarily mean 1 billion people watched the video. I alone probable accounted for a few thousand views.
