“The Young and the Restless” spoilers are in; Y&R November sweeps are just a few short weeks away and TPTB teased fans for months that Adam Newman’s (Justin Hartley) reveal could happen at any moment. When his identity does come out (scheduled for November sweeps which actually begin late October), Sage Newman (Kelly Sullivan) will have to answer as to why she’d help Adam, explain her role in his resurrection, and pray that Nick (Joshua Morrow) will forgive her for deceiving him for over a year and pray even harder that she’s not carrying Adam’s baby! Is there any possible way that Nick would or could forgive her?
When Nick met Sage, he was emotionally bankrupt – after Sharon betrayed his trust when she switched his daughter’s paternity results a few years earlier. Sharon was terrified that Nick would desert her if Summer was his daughter. So in an effort to keep him all to herself, she swapped the test results to reveal Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) as Summer’s father.
Phyllis, Summer’s mother (Gina Tognoni) discovered Sharon falsified the result, and she confronted her. The exchange led to Phyllis falling down the stairs, slipping into a year-long coma and almost cost her life. Nick finally was clued in about the terrible secret, and he dumped Sharon – abandoning their picture-perfect life together. Nick partially and correctly blamed Sharon not only for the paternity switch but Phyllis’ accident.
Sage promised and swore to Nick that she is different than Sharon claiming she could be trusted. Sharon pledged she was an honest person and was deserving of a respectful relationship with him. He bought everything she was selling. Nick trusted that she is the woman whom he always wanted – a woman of virtue and honesty. Their whole marriage is an awful sham. Sage is nothing but trouble for the Newmans.
Sage was the one who brought Gabriel Bingham to Genoa City. She saved him when he was at death’s door after the altercation with Billy Abbott (Burgess Jenkins). Sage made the hard decision to gift him Gabriel Bingham’s face – in an effect to please Gabe’s ailing grandmother, Constance Bingham (Sally Kellerman).
Sage ended up sleeping with Adam at one point, and her child is likely his child. Sage wanted to be sure that Adam wasn’t her child’s father and had a paternity test. The test ruled the baby was a Newman child. That was enough for Nick because he never even believed that Gabriel (or Adam) was a Newman! The speculation was that the baby would be born with Adam’s eye condition – which would expose Gabriel as Adam and Sage as a con artist.
When comparing ‘sins’ between Sharon and Sage, it becomes difficult to tell which woman has been more deceitful. Sharon has had years of practice and hid the paternity switch for a very long time. Sage’s secret is huge – astronomical. Nick will be devastated to learn that sweet, helpless, Sage was actually a monster who orchestrated his evil half-brother’s return to terrorize Genoa City – we won’t even mention Adam bringing Ian Ward back on scene which alone is a catastrophe for the Newmans.
Will Nick forgive her or will he treat her like Sharon and toss her to the curb? Is the Adam reveal going to lead to a Shick (Sharon and Nick) reunion in the coming months? Can Sharon and Dylan’s relationship really survive her miscarriage and lies? Don’t forget to check back for more juicy “The Young and the Restless” spoilers, rumors, and updates!
