Selena Gomez was apparently shocked and appalled when she heard that her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber had told a racist joke and sang a song about being in the KKK when he was 14 and 15.
The Confident singer lost many fans when two videos were leaked online this week showing him telling a racist joke, and changing the lyrics to his song One Less Lonely Girl to “One Less Lonely (N**er)”, in which he joked about joining the Ku Klux Klan.
One of the lines Bieber can be seen singing is: “If I kill you, I’ll be a part of the KKK, and there’ll be one less lonely [N-word].”
But despite being utterly disgusted at her ex for using such vile and hateful language, it looks like Selena’s instincts to protect the 20-year-old started to kick in, and worried family and friends are desperate to keep her from going back to the troublesome singer.
“Selena always feels that she should protect Justin, and as long as he continues to get in trouble, she will continue to feel bad for him and want to do something to help,” a source close to Gomez told Hollywood Life.
“[This is] exactly what her family and close friends DON’T want her to do.”
While it may be hard for Selena to ignore her urge to support the boy she loved for years, those close to her know that re-associating herself with Justin right now would be a big mistake for the 21-year-old.
“They want her as far away from Justin as possible and for her to make an identity for herself that doesn’t involve him,” the insider explained.
“Selena’s handlers are doing everything they can think of to get Justin out of her mind but it is a tremendous work in progress and an almost impossible feat.”
Meanwhile, Justin has released another apology for the second racist video which leaked yesterday (June 4), but is saying sorry really enough?
