The-Dream, the songwriter behind mega-hits such as Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” was charged with assault Wednesday for allegedly assaulting his 8-months-pregnant girlfriend, officials said.
The 36-year-old music producer, whose given name is Terius Nash, surrendered to police on Wednesday — just over two years after he allegedly attacked his then-girlfriend during an argument in the Plaza Hotel, officials said.
His girlfriend, identified by police sources as Lydia Nam, 29, officials said.
The Grammy-award winning songwriter allegedly choked and punched Nam in the stomach during a stay at the famed Fifth Ave. hotel on April 4, 2012.
Nam did not report the attack until Nov. 2013, according to authorities.
The-Dream surrendered to cops in the Midtown North station house on Wednesday morning with high-profile attorney Benjamin Brafman by his side, officials said.
He was charged with assault, strangulation, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment, officials said.
His arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court was pending Wednesday evening.
The-Dream was previously married to Christina Milian.
