FOOTBALL star Gareth Bale can hardly speak any Spanish nine months after moving to Real Madrid.
And the Welsh wizard, who started lessons more than a year ago, has to rely on multi-lingual colleagues to tell him what is going on.
Gareth’s former Tottenham team-mate Luka Modric, 28, translates Spanish instructions into English for him, while he also leans on English-born coach Paul Clement, 42, for help.
The flying winger, 24, signed for Real last summer in an £85million deal, making him the most expensive player in history.
And he told TV host Clare Balding, 43: “Yes, everything is in Spanish.
"At the start I would speak to Paul Clement after.
“Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, I’ll be able to understand it fully”

“He knew what the team talk was about before the manager made it, so I used to talk with him.
“If I don’t understand something I’ll go and speak to Paul, or maybe speak to Luka or one of the boys who speaks both languages.
“Hopefully, in the not-too-distant future, I’ll be able to understand it fully.”
Gareth, who is now settled in the Spanish capital with fiancée Emma Rhys-Jones, 23, and baby daughter Alba, has also accepted he may never play in a World Cup with Wales.
He confessed: “I think you just have to accept that sometimes we’re not as blessed as other countries.
“But I try to look at the positives.
"I get a good eight or nine weeks’ rest when they keep playing football.”
Gareth’s full interview is on The Clare Balding Show on BT Sport 1 at 8pm tonight.
