The Canadian pop star captioned the picture “#heartbreaker,” sparking rumors that a reunion with his on-again, off-again ex-girlfriend over the Fourth of July holiday didn’t go as planned.

Or perhaps Bieber is simply shrewdly promoting his upcoming single, also named “Heartbreaker.”

Bieber and Gomez split up in fall 2012, but have been spotted together several times since their breakup.
The “Baby” singer hasn’t announced an official release date for “Heartbreaker,” but tweeted that “It’s gonna happen suddenly.”
