North West has only been in the world for a few short days and she's already at the center of some serious dramz!
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have issued a cease and desist letter to a publicity company using their pretty mugs to promote a charity auction in celebration of the arrival of the A-list newborn.
The new parents are clearly NOT fans of Jonathan Hay Publicity after the company posted a painting of Kanye to be auctioned off June 19 and July 3 to benefit the Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago— which Kim and Kanye also uncoincidentally asked friends and fam to throw money at instead of baby gifts.
Even though Jonathan Hay posted a disclaimer at the bottom of the website to make clear that the power couple weren't involved, their legal team says the publicist was very obviously trying to mislead clients.
Hmmmmm….
In a detailed 3-page letter, attorney Lisa M. Buckley explained:
“While our clients certainly have no objections to yours and Mr. Michael A. Smith’s desire to donate money to the Charity, and in fact would applaud your making a donation, you cannot do so under the guise that it is pursuant to a request by our clients, that your activity is sanctioned or approved by Ms. Kardashian and Mr. West, or are involved in any way with your ‘charity auction.’ Yet, this is exactly what you have done. The construction and phrasing of this advertisement — first referencing our clients’ request that charitable donations be made in lieu of baby gifts, your comment that the Charity that will purportedly receive the proceeds of the auction is our clients’ ‘charity of choice,’ and your reference to a painting of Mr. West first seen in one of his music videos — creates a very strong impression that our clients are connected to or otherwise involved in your venture.”
The letter also threatens the charitable cause to remove Kim and Kanye's names from TheseWallsRevisited.com immediately even though they have no "interest in squashing [the] deiste to donate money to the charity."
While Jonathan and his team complied with the super stern request, he has pointed out that "the ones affected the most by this are the children and their families.”
True words Jonathan!
The also publicist dished:
"All Kris [ Jenner] really had to do was reply to the email and talk to us directly, we were on friendly terms with the Kardashians so we would’ve respected their wishes. We cannot control the public’s assumptions, despite our carefully worded ‘advertisement.’ By the way, we will be burning the painting of Kanye West.”
LOLz! Burning might be dramatic, but we understand Jonathan's frustration….
..dude was just trying to fight for a good cause!
Are we missing something here??!
We'll always love ourselves some Kimye, but we're not entirely sure what they're worried about. So what if people assume they're involved??! They should be thrilled that their star power could rake in donations for sick kiddies.
