Earlier today, Jessica Simpson gave birth and she named the baby Ace Knute Johnson. While she hasn’t yet commented on the origin of the baby name, we can safely assume that he was named after Knute Rockne, the Notre Dame football coach from 1918 to 1930.
Why would she name her kid after a historic head coach in the college football world? It’s simple, really. Knute Rockne was the man who popularized the forward pass and used the so-called gimmick to become one of the most idolized football coaches in American history. Simpson’s husband, Eric Johnson, is a former NFL tight end who made a living catching forward passes.
If you ask me, it was a cool way of giving the baby a football-related name. And if you want further proof that it wasn’t a coincidence, here’s a picture of the two of them together. Plastic surgery is amazing!
