Leading with four trophies in different categories, Akin Omotosho’s flick, Man on Ground shone like bright star at the just concluded 1st Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
The awards ceremony, which held at the Convention centre, Eko hotel and suites, Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria on Saturday, March 9, 2013, had the trappings of some of the best thespians from around the African continent.
Tying with Man on Ground was Sara Bleacher’s Otelo Burning, which also won the Best Movie overall.
Closely following was Obi Emenlonye’s The Mirror Boy, which won 3 trophies that include award for Best Movie (Drama).
Jackie Appiah stunned Genevieve Nnaji and Funke Akindele as she was awarded Best Actress while O.C Ukeje comes of age as the Best Actor in Africa beating Kalu Ikeagwun and Fabian Olojede in the category.
New mother, Mercy Johnson returned to glory as she was awarded the Best Actress in a comedy with her role as Dumebi in the comedy flick, Dumebi the dirty girl.
