Question: What song is stuck in your head?
Answer: That’s like asking me not to thinking of a dancing gold octopus tapping to “Steamboat Willy.” I want to have a song to give to the people. I would then be able to postulate its meaning and the philosophy behind the artist that once…wait, there’s one! LANDSLIDE by the Smashing Pumpkins?! Get out of here with that crap. Sweet baby Jesus, I am not pondering that Stevie Nicks pile. Billy Corbin sounds like he is stuck between choosing his own humanity and the zombie reality. Which one does he choose? I would bet that being Billy Corbin would rather just live in that limbo. The guy is kind of a self-righteous jerk but he has principles. That counts for something. But why Landslide? Of all the songs to cover, LANDSLIDE?! It’s like a chick flick for the aural senses. Mind you, I have no problem with specific chick flicks. I just found out that I like that Justin Bieber song, “As Long As You Love Me.” Okay, now I know that THAT is bordering on forfeiting my Man Card but I have never heard Bieber’s past whatever-his-mommy-and-daddy-and-50cent-approve-for-him-to-produce and I thought it was a Michael Jackson impersonator. A damned good one at that. I still think it’s a good song. He’s a terrible person though. Making all those girls cut themselves because he smoked weed? Tsk tsk.
REDEMPTION!!!!! Astral Weeks by Van Morrison. Thank God for good taste. I knew my mind would overcome the fatal pop sounds. Never heard of Van Morrison? Go listen to Beggars Banquet and Exile on Main Street by the Rolling Stones. The Travelling Wilburys. Who’s Next by The Who. Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues. Blues by Jimi Hendrix. Oh. You think I am just some fuddy-duddy that listens to oldies? Try Surrender by The Chemical Brothers. Homework by Daft Punk. Modern Thrills by Tesla Boy. Magic Potion by The Black Keys (how’s that for hipster?). The Score by The Fugees. Phrenology by The Roots. Lovedrive by The Scorpions. Deadringer by RJD2.
Damn. I got this music gig on lock.
