The World's Most Viewed YouTube Videos | Sherlock Blogs

YouTube is one of today’s most popular Web sites because it puts millions of entertaining, educational, and sometimes just downright strange videos right at your fingertips with the touch of a button. From music to comedy and so much more, there is a video on YouTube for everyone, and even some of the most famous people around today got their start on YouTube when their videos went viral and starting getting millions of hits per day. When it comes to today’s popular You Tube videos, music and comedy videos are still topping YouTube’s charts.

Teen sensation Justin Bieber, (who got his start on YouTube,) tops the most-viewed video list on the site today with his video “Baby.” It is a historic video for the site, as it is the first video ever to reach half a billion hits. Currently, it is at nearly five hundred million hits and will surely get more YouTube views as time goes on. Ironically, it also has the status of being on the most hated video list as well; making it clear that there is no middle ground when it comes to this teen idol’s fanatic fandom. Another famous singer, Jennifer Lopez, is in the number two position on the charts of the world’s most-viewed YouTube videos with her song “On the Floor,” which also features the popular rapper, Pitbull. This video also has over five hundred million views, proving that music videos are still king when it comes to YouTube and that there is little doubt that this site is still a huge part of youth culture as pre-teens and teens watch these videos to see the latest music and fashion trends.

However, although music videos top the charts when it comes to YouTube videos, there is another family-oriented video that has millions of views as well. Entitled “Charlie Bit My Finger,” this video features two sweet little boys, one of about five and the other a baby, and both boys’ reactions when the baby bites his big brother’s finger has become a viral sensation all over the Web. This video is popular with both young and old alike, and especially with parents, who can no doubt relate to this kind of sibling rivalry. Currently, the video has over four hundred million views and holds steady as one of YouTube’s most famous videos. It’s hard to tell what will become the next famous viral vid, but one thing is for sure—YouTube videos are sure to remain the gauge of today’s pop culture.
