After much discussion on whether he′ll be able to do it, Psy has finally surpassed Jennifer Lopez on YouTube.
The music video for Psy′s Gangnam Style became the second most-viewed video on the video site. It has been just 12 days since the video rose to no. 3 after garnering more views than the music video for Eminem′s Love the Way You Lie on October 20.
According to YouTube on November 2, Psy′s Gangnam Style music video gathered over 615 million views, beating out Jennifer Lopez′s music video for On the Floor that had been standing at no. 2. The music video, which was released on March 2011, currently stands with 615.6 million views.
Gangnam Style has been creeping closer to the new rank since October 31, when it passed 600 million views.
Considering how Gangnam Style has been gathering a substantial number of views in record time, its rise to the top of the chart seems close at hand. The current no. 1 video is Justin Bieber′s Baby music video, with 794 million views.
As Baby′s record was gathered over the course of two years and On the Floor′s over one, many are looking forward to seeing Gangnam Style become the video to gather a record billion views in a record amount of time.
Gangnam Style is currently at no. 2 on Billboard′s Hot 100 chart.
