Justin Bieber is said to have been booed during a football match in his native Canada.

According to Access Hollywood, the Baby hitmaker - who was the guest of honour at the 100th Grey Cup Championship game on Sunday (25th November) - faced a difficult crowd at the event.

The website claims Bieber was repeatedly booed when his face was flashed on the big screen, and was jeered whenever his name was mentioned by the host.

However, like a true professional, the 18-year old took it all in his stride and ignored the boos during his mash-up of tracks Boyfriend and Beauty And A Beat, telling his audience: "Thank you so much, Canada. I love you."

JB did later address the negative response to his appearance on Twitter, retweeting messages of support from his Beliebers and stating: "Honoured to perform for my country. #ProudCanadian . Good luck in the second half. thanks."

The star - who is thought to have rekindled his romance with girlfriend Selena Gomez - then added: "Never walk away from a challenge."

Bieber's pal Carly Rae Jepsen also apparently faced a difficult reception from the crowd, but allegedly won them over with a medley of This Kiss and smash hit single, Call Me Maybe.

Justin also made the news this week after he faced criticism for wearing overalls to meet Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper - with the teen idol later explaining that he did not have time to change.
