An El Paso chef will soon be the envy of every teenage girl.
Sara Horowitz, who has cooked for television’s toughest chefs, will cook for one of the world’s biggest pop stars — Justin Bieber.
Horowitz admits she doesn’t know a lot about Bieber, but she’s about to be immersed in teen love and songs like “Baby,” “Boyfriend” and “As long as you love me.”
Horowitz will become the Canadian teen idol’s personal chef on Jan. 4 for his current tour.
“This is huge,” Horowitz said. “A friend of mine who works at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas recommended me. It’s a big honor and will be good on my resume.”
Before going on tour, Horowitz will travel with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s chefs during the November tour.
“Tuesday, I am out of here,” she said. “They are going to train me — kind of like a warm-up.”
Horowitz was a runner-up in Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen” in 2006 and participated in the Food Network’s “Best in Smoke” competition in 2010.
Bieber, 18, is one of the world’s best-selling young singers and is followed by legions of girls.
“I am doing a lot of research,” Horowitz said. “It is going to be a blast.”
Horowitz has had a distinguished cooking career on and off television.
In 2008, she was the lead chef at the Democratic National Convention in Denver, planning daily menus and managing teams of chefs, who prepared high volumes of food each day. In 2004, she was one of about 30
chefs who cooked for more than 150,000 people each day during the Democratic National Convention in Boston.
Horowitz is a graduate of Loretto Academy and of the Culinary Institute of America.
