The 3D documentary – Katy Perry: A Part Of Me which cost £7.7million to make, only pulled in £4 million at cinemas in its opening weekend, reports the Los Angeles Times.
It was trounced by The Amazing Spider-Man after it raked in over £90 million during its opening week and new Oliver Stone movie Savages, which made £10.5 million.
By comparison, Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' managed £19 million in its opening weekend last year and 'Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour' collected £20 million in 2008.
The film, which was released in the UK last Thursday (July 5), trails Perry's pre-fame days right up to the conclusion of her 'Teenage Dream' world tour. It also documents her marriage to comic Russell Brand.
Speaking about the movie she previously said: "I wanted to show people this parade that surrounds me, I wanted them to see the engine. I wanted people to be able to experience the tour and all the joy it brought, which is why we shot it in 3D."
The singer also recently revealed that she was offered a role in Oscar-winning 2011 movie The Help, which she turned down.
Perry is currently working on a new album, which she warned fans will be "real fucking dark".
