Selena Gomez and her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, are currently in a long-distance phase of their relationship. Of course, given their careers, the occurrence of having many miles between them is not unusual one. While Bieber was rocking the Billboard Music Awards last Sunday night in Las Vegas, Gomez was in Bulgaria filming her new movie, The Getaway. And not so long ago, the starlet jetted off to sunny Florida to film Spring Breakers, while her "Baby" singer stayed in Los Angeles to promote his new "Boyfriend" track. The long distance is undeniably a challenge--for any romance, Hollywood celebrity or not--but, for Bieber, it may have just gotten a bit more unbearable to have his girl in Bulgaria.
As Hollywood Life reports via the Associated Press, there was a 5.6 earthquake in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia at 3 a.m. local time on May 22. Sofia is reportedly about 30 miles away from where Selena Gomez is stationed for her movie. Add to that a 4.9 magnitude aftershock about 90 minutes later, and her Getaway flick isn't the only thing action-packed on this Tuesday. Apparently, no injuries minor or major have been reported (thank goodness!), but any level of natural disaster is still a scary and suspense-filled one.
And talk about major separation anxiety now for someone like Justin Bieber or Gomez's family, who must be worried about her and her safety!
It seems even Selena Gomez's sweet fans have already been tweeting #PrayforSelena ever since this earth-shattering (literally!) news came out, as Hollywood Life confirms. One thing seems certain, though: Now the singer-actress must be more ready than ever to return to her home turf--not that California is immune to earthquakes. But, at least there she has the Biebs by her side--that is, unless he's off traveling for his new album, Believe!
